Volvo Says No Sub-Compacts for Now

Many of you have been excited and anticipating the release of the recently-announced Volvo 40-series. These compact cars will be the first produced on Volvo's new CMA architecture, and the first small Volvo cars to be sold in the U.S. in years.

But what about something even smaller?

Drivers who remember the Volvo C30 fondly, unfortunately, will have to wait. Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of Volvo Cars, told Car and Driver that CMA could be downsized in order to manufacture smaller 30-series models, but doing so is not on the current agenda.

"We obviously move towards segments that we can sell around the world," he said. "It's very hard to make money in that segment right now."

Nonetheless, we believe our Friendship Volvo of Bristol customers will find a huge amount of value in the upcoming 40-series. It will be something truly different from the rest of the lineup, with what Volvo promises will be a youthful and urban character. Keep an eye on our new inventory in 2017.
