Volvo Design VP Gets Awarded By AutoCar

Every year, AutoCar recognizes the best in the automotive industry at their annual awards. This year, the title for “Design Hero” went to none other than Volvo’s Thomas Ingenlath, the brand’s Senior Vice President of Design. As the man responsible for the stylish looks of recent models ranging from the S90 to the XC60, we think it’s quite deserved.

Ingenlath joined Volvo in 2012—just when the development process for the new Scalable Product Architecture and new design language was coming to fruition. Under his guidance, Thor’s Hammer headlamps, as well as a more traditional take on Scandinavian design traditions made their way into the Volvo range. To showcase his touch, the design boss showcased a V90 T6 Inscription with Maple Brown paint, a panoramic glass sunroof, dark window tints, and an interior of blond and charcoal Nappa leather with walnut inlays. These elements are part of the cornerstone of Volvo’s recent models, which prioritize an open-air feel and comfort.

Watch the video above to hear Ingenlath talk about his involvement in the new XC60. To experience a new Volvo in person, contact our Bristol, TN showroom and schedule a test drive.
