2018 Volvo XC60 Encapsulates Swedish Elegance

The premium compact crossover segment in which the Volvo XC60 competes is mostly lorded over by models that are in a constant game of cat and mouse to outdo each other in the grounds of style, upscale fittings, and performance. But one-upping the competition by power numbers isn’t how Volvo does things, which is part of what puts the all-new 2018 XC60 in a class all its own.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show yesterday, the XC60 is the latest all-new Volvo design by Thomas Ingenlath (who was also responsible for the 90-Series). While it carries the same themes as these other models, it also represents a move toward family resemblance for the automaker. It also marks the third model in which Pilot Assist is offered—an innovative, semi-autonomous system that can take over acceleration, braking, and steering on well-marked roads at speeds up to 80 mph.
